Jackie Earle Haley began his career in the movie industry as a child actor. His many credits include playing “Kelly Leak”, the motorcycle “bad boy” and long-ball hitter in the original Bad News Bears. He also played “Moocher” in the Academy Award Winning sleeper, Breaking Away, and in the summer-fun romp Losin’ It he played opposite Tom Cruise. On Broadway, he performed with Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, and Val Kilmer in the Scottish play, Slab Boys.
Behind the camera, Jackie has written for the television series Twilight Zone, and sold a screenplay entitled Playroom, which was produced by Smart Egg Pictures in the early 1990's. Today, as an award winning commercial director, Jackie brings a distinctive combination of talents to bear for his clients. Actors love working with Jackie because he brings out their best. Agencies like working with him because of his diversity, always looking to the spot’s “creative” to drive vision, style, and character… not the other way around. Spearheading productions in numerous cities, and with a talented roster of Cinematographers, Jackie can further customize production value, look, and feel to meet Agency Creatives’ finely tuned expectations. At the end of 2006, Jackie returned to the “big screen” as “Sugar Boy”, in Steve Zaillian’s star-studded adaptation of Robert Penn Warren’s, All The King’s Men. After filming ATKM Jackie got a hold of an early draft of Todd Field’s Little Children; made an audition tape, and sent it to Field. “I’ll never forget watching what Jackie prepared on that tape,” says Field, “his work was so original, specific and unexpected – I couldn’t take my eyes off him. And not just the acting, but the direction and passion he put into the filmmaking.” Jackie later recieved an Oscar Nomination - Best Supporting Actor- for his performance in Little Children. “I love acting… I love directing,” Jackie has said, “I’m very fortunate that I get to do both”. |
